POINT OF THE MOUNTAIN — Road buckling caused significant delays Sunday evening on I-15. Crews were on scene repairing the damage.

The two left lanes of northbound I-15, including the HOV lane, buckled at mile post 287, roughly 15000 South, according to the Utah Department of Transportation traffic website. Both lanes were shut down.

The UDOT was on scene evaluating the damage and the UHP was diverting traffic in the area early Sunday evening.

There is no word on the cause of the damage.

Three lanes remained available to traffic, with 15- to 20-minute delays expected until about 10 p.m., according to tweets from UDOT. Crews were expected to be off the road by midnight.

Construction was also causing delays south of the damage, between Main street and 2100 North in Lehi. The left two lanes will be closed between mile markers 279 and 282 until 6 a.m. Monday.

Officials encouraged drivers coming from Utah County to use Redwood Road in Lehi and Bangerter Highway to reach Salt Lake County.
