(KSL News) -- No police, no questions. The state of Utah wants mothers who are thinking about abandoning their babies to know that there is another option.

Safe Haven Program Allows Anonymous Drop-off of Babies

Today the state unveiled a new campaign promoting the "safe haven" program, allowing mothers to anonymously drop their unwanted babies at an emergency room and not face fear of prosecution.

"The baby is taken care of. The Division of Child and Family Services is called and the baby is put up for adoption in an expedited way into a loving home."

The "safe haven" has been in place for several years, but supporters say it has been difficult to get the word out to the girls in need. They are hoping the television ads will raise awareness.
