SALT LAKE CITY — Everyone seems to think Hollywood is out of original ideas these days, but it appears it isn't totally out of creativity.

Wait, did I say it's not out of creativity? That was a mistake; the creativity well is totally dry.

Some Hollywood execs decided that it was high time Tard, the Grumpy Cat, got her own movie. So, that's exactly what we're getting.

My apologies, humanity.

The studio behind "Here Comes the Boom" and everyone's favorite "Jack and Jill," Broken Road, has teamed up with Tard's reps — yes, she has reps — and decided it was high time we brought Grumpy Cat to the big screen.

Apparently the film will follow along the lines of "Garfield," which is clearly everyone's favorite movie.

This would seem to suggest that the movie will give Tarder Sauce, the cat's actual name, the power of speech. If there is one thing that makes a movie better it's without a doubt a talking animal. So, well played, Hollywood. Way to never give up on a formula that's basically never delivered.

Todd Garner of Broken Road told Deadline that he believes families will be clawing for a Grumpy Cat movie. (See what I did there?)

"This started off as a picture of a cat, but rare is an image that evokes that much comedy," Garner told Deadline. "You read all of the memes and the comments, and one is funnier than the next. We think we can build a big family comedy around this character."

Now, as you read this and let it sink in, you have two depressing routes to go down from here.

Grumpy Cat gets her own movie, finally

The first: You realize this is a family film about a talking cat, and reality slaps you in the face with the likelihood of your kids begging you to take them to the theater when this opens.

Second: You sink into a deep self-loathing as you come to grips with the fact that this ugly miniature cat is officially richer than you will likely ever be.

You win this round, universe.

There's still no planned release date for the Grumpy Cat movie, so let's just all forget about it until then, shall we?
