TAYLORSVILLE — An 18-month-old boy was reported to be in extremely critical condition after being found submerged in a backyard pond Tuesday.

A 23-year-old man was working on his laptop in a backyard at 3465 W. 5735 South when he lost sight of his son, said Unified police detective Ken Hansen. He called police about 11:50 a.m., after the boy had been missing for 10 to 15 minutes.

The yard is heavy with trees, plants, bushes and two landscape ponds. Police found the toddler submerged in a 3-foot pond. Paramedics attempted CPR before the boy was taken to Primary Children's Medical Center.

Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
