LAS VEGAS (AP) -- UNLV's Curtis Perry had a game-high 21 points and Rene Rougeau added 15 points Tuesday night to lead the Rebels past Mountain West Conference BYU 70-41 in a rematch of last year's league title game.

UNLV (13-4, 2-1) opened the game on a 19-5 run and led by double figures for the game's final 32 minutes. It was the opposite of UNLV's 78-70 victory in the title game last March when the Rebels trailed 16-3 and had to rally.

This time, the Rebels made 7 of 12 first-half 3-pointers, including Perry connecting on his first four to build a 26-9 advantage with 6:57 to play before halftime.

UNLV's defense did the rest and limited BYU to 33 percent shooting, including 3-of-21 on 3-pointers.

Matt Shaw added 7 points and a team-high 8 rebounds for the Rebels.

BYU (12-5, 1-1) only led once, 3-0 in the opening minutes on a 3-pointer from Jonathan Tavernari. Trent Plaisted, who averages a team-best 16 points per game, was limited to 5 points and only made 1 of 10 foul shots.

Lee Cummard was the lone Cougar in double figures with 11 points. Chris Miles added 9.
