DRAPER, Utah (AP) -- A serial rapist who plagued the West before his capture in Ogden will spend the rest of his life in the Utah State Prison.
The state Board of Pardons and Parole this week extended Blaine Hogge Nelson's prison term through the rest of his natural life. The decision comes after an Oct. board interview with Nelson.
A former truck driver, Nelson has confessed to about 70 rapes across the western states. About 20 of those occurred in Ogden.
Nelson was sentenced in 1987 to a series of consecutive five years-to-life and 15 years-to-life prison terms.
If he's ever released from the Utah prison, he faces a prison term in Wyoming for rapes there.
