Andrew Adams reportingThe state is turning to the Internet to find a solution to its teacher shortage. And it's paying out some significant money in the process.

The State Office of Education says it's becoming the common portal for recruiting teachers. So, it's handing out roughly $100,000 to Teachers-Teachers.com. And why not? Studies show Utah is going to need tens of thousands of additional teachers to handle a projected 140,000 more students by 2014.

The site lists more than 7,600 teachers who say they want a job in Utah. Last quarter, the state posted 170 vacancies on the site. It also sent out 180 e-mails to job candidates.
