(KSL News) Crews responded to a church fire in Midvale around 8:45 this morning.

A custodian at the St. Therese Church, near 600 West and 7800 South, walked in to find smoke throughout the building.

Firefighters found the source of the blaze in the chapel near the pulpit. They quickly put out the flames.

They estimate damage to the building at $10,000. They say the smoke damage is much worse than usual.

Fire officials suspect the fire was caused either by an electrical problem or a candle that tipped over.
