NBC's Ryan Cummings reporting A 40-year tradition of collecting and exhibiting cars is coming to an end for a Tennessee man. His classic cars go up on the auction block. This man has detailed every aspect of his cars.
BobbyWiggins knows everything there is to know about his cars. He knows the state they came from, their mileage, and how much money he put into each one. But for him, it's not about the money.
It's about a life-long commitment to making these classics even better.
Each car is unique in its own way. You can tell just by looking at these classics. They're in mint condition.
The tires look brand new. The hood ornaments are still in place, and the paint job is just as polished as the day it left the lot.
Bobby: "It was the hardest decision I've ever made."
A decision Bobby Wiggins has thought about for some time. And he's finally made up his mind.
This Saturday, these classics head to the auction block. It's the first time in 40 years he's ready to sell. So, why now?
Bobby Wiggins/ Car Collector: "Well, I'd like to get up one morning and have to hunt for something to do instead of getting up every morning with 40 different things to do and never get any of them done."
"I tried to make every car the best I could make it."
And by the looks of the cars, he's done his job. But this warehouse, his second home, will be empty soon. No more Bel-Airs, no more 490's, and no more '57 Chevy Corvettes.
Bobby: "Every time I come back here it's sort of like seeing water come out of the headlights, like they're crying 'don't make me leave'. So I just sit down and cry with them." "It's just been a labor or love and a lifetime doing it."
