ALPINE -- An Alpine man is paying it forward. He created an online business that tracks good deeds.
Jeff Smith started doing small acts like paying for someone's coffee. He then created a Web site called Goodwillpaidforward.com.
The Web site allows people to track their good deeds, even anonymous ones, on Google Maps.
Smith tells the Deseret News it works like this: People buy a sheet of 10 tags or mini-cards online for $16. After the tags arrive by mail, the buyer logs on the Web site and provides a code. As they do a good deed, they pass on a tag. They can track the tag online as it moves on.
Smith says in seven months the site has tracked nearly 12,000 acts of kindness all over the world. That's nearly 60 a day. Soon the name of the Web site will be changed to Tagten.org.
