SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Sheriff's deputies arrested two hunters for assaulting a group of campers who asked them to avoid shooting in their direction.
Authorities say a fist-fight broke out during the confrontation, and a scuffle over a gun produced by one of the campers led to the gun's discharge. It hit one of the hunters in the hand.
Iron County sheriff's detective Jody Edwards said the hunters then began to beat three of the four campers severely, leaving one of them with permanent nerve damage to his face.
Another camper ran away and hid under a tree.
Deputies arrested two of the four hunters on Wednesday on multiple felony charges after a lengthy investigation for the September brawl.
