TRENTON, Cache County — Heavy snow caused a Cache County school bus to slide off the road into a canal on Wednesday.
The accident happened about 4:15 p.m., when the bus was transporting students to their homes on roads covered with snow. The bus driver was driving too close to the side of the road, Cache County sheriff's deputies said, and when it slid off and rolled onto its side into a canal.
There were two aides and three children on the bus. One child was in a wheelchair and was not able to exit the bus after the accident.
When sheriff's deputies and other emergency responders arrived, they were able to pick up the child in his wheelchair and carry him off the bus.
The other children were also evaluated on scene by medical personnel while they awaited the arrival of their parents. No one was injured in the accident.
The accident is still under investigation by the Cache County Sheriff's Office.
