This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

When working in sub-zero conditions, a key to being safe is to keep your core warm. If your vital organs are warm enough, they will keep circulating warm blood out to your extremities. Otherwise, they'll keep the blood in your core, leaving your fingers, toes and nose cold, according to mountainprofessor.com. Providing adequate core warmth is exactly what Don Thomason and Dale Lewis of Aeris are doing.

After watching Dale's son in North Dakota work in the oil fields and seeing how miserable he was in the wintertime — not even six layers of clothing was enough to keep him warm at temperatures of 10 to 20 degrees below zero — they figured there had to be a better way. And they found it.

With Aeris, they created a lightweight single layer system. It insulates the person wearing it while also managing moisture by moving it away from the body. This keeps the moisture from being trapped inside and making the person cold. All that's required to make this work is Aeris' coat and pants set with a summer coverall over the top. And the best part is it performs better the colder it gets outside since the air moves and flows through temperature changes.

Of course these guys knew it was important to put their Aeris equipment to the test. Earlier this year they went out to the Huntington Reservoir and drilled a hole in the ice. The temperature with wind chill was about 11 degrees below zero. They had someone wearing their gear jump into the water to see if it would still be effective wet. Despite being soaked, the testers were still warm within a minute of climbing out of the 33-degree water.

Don and Dale say everyone who finds Aeris and tries the product can't believe how effective it is, especially with applications for everyone from hunters and fishers to winter sport enthusiasts. For more information, visit aeris.me.
