RIVERTON — Students from Riverton Elementary School had a chance to see birds from the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah Monday.
The students from Mrs. Fay's class at Riverton Elementary School helped to raise money to aid in the rehabilitation of a baby eagle, Phoenix, that was badly burned in the Saratoga Springs Dump Fire.
The third graders also built 30 bird perches for other birds injured in the fire.
While the students enjoyed the party, they didn't expect a thank you.
"We helped out and some of the people thought we earned a reward but I thought we didn't need an award because helping is just helping," said student Taylor Ludlow.
Phoenix's recovery is going well, even though he is still unable to fly.
