(KSL News) A compromise was struck tonight on Salt Lake County's budget.

The total budget is $811 million. County Mayor Peter Caroon balked at the costs of hiring 16 new employees in the district attorney's office. DA Lohra Miller will still get a $1.2 million increase in her budget to fight crime. That's after a compromise was agreed to taking $200,000 out of the DA's request and another $50,000 cut from Mayor Corroon's portfolio.

The Mayor says the new budget is fiscally responsibe while still providing for public safety.
