(KSL News) - Three suspected tire thieves were caught in their tracks this evening in Taylorsville, thanks to an alert citizen.
Andrew Jones: "I'm not much of a hero person, but I feel like if I can do the right thing, maybe stop some crime, maybe more people will do it."
And stop a crime he did. Not only did Andrew Jones spot the crime, he helped catch the bad guys, too. He saw three men take these tires from a store in Taylorsville. He followed their car and called police. When the suspects fled on foot, Jones went after them.
Andrew Jones: "The one that I actually seen take off with the tires, I had him, I tackled him down and made sure that he was okay. Another gentleman held him down while we let the officers know that we had him."
Police captured all three suspects. They face charges of theft and fleeing from a police officer. While police are grateful for the help, they don't encourage people to try and apprehend criminals. They recommend people report the crime to police and let them take it from there.
