SALT LAKE CITY — It was a big day for Apple with two new additions that were released on Friday. Customers lined up outside the Apple store to get their hands on the iPad Mini and the iPad 4, but the enthusiasm wasn't as great as it has been for previous Apple releases.
In several major cities across the U.S., lines outside Apple stores were almost non-existent which isn't typical of a new product release. Why the lower numbers?
According to Wired magazine, many people just don't understand what the mini is for or why they would need one, especially if they already own both an iPhone and an iPad.
"Even though press and industry knew about it, the iPad mini was more secretive," Forrester analyst Sarah Rotman told Wired. "Mainstream consumers weren't talking about it."
Despite the turnout Friday Morning, Apple expectations are still high that the 7.5-inch mini will be in demand because of large sales of other 7-inch tablets.
