SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah Jazz have reached an agreement with Jerry Sloan on a one-year extension that keeps him under contract through the end of next season.
Sloan has been coaching the Jazz since 1988, reaching the NBA Finals twice and winning six division titles. Following Monday's win over Miami, he needs just 46 victories to become the first coach in league history to win 1,000 games with the same franchise.
The 65-year-old Sloan is fourth on the NBA's career wins list.
