SALT LAKE CITY — This summer's "The Bourne Legacy" received mixed reviews and had a mediocre performance in theaters. The new direction of the franchise had many wondering if Matt Damon would ever return to the series as Jason Bourne alongside Jeremy Renner.

While it's not official it appears that a Damon/Renner team-up isn't going to happen.

Movieline recently spoke with Damon about the Bourne franchise and his future with the character.

"From what I understand, (Legacy) kind of relives ‘The Bourne Ultimatum' from a different perspective. What that means, because they use our actors and characters, is that whatever they said in Legacy is true and so we'd have to acknowledge in any Bourne movie that we'd do." Damon told Movieline. "And that makes it really tough. I don't think we can do the Dallas it-was-all-a-dream scenario. I don't think the audience would go for that after they paid money to see movie."

According to that it sounds like not only has Damon not seen the latest Bourne movie, but that he likely won't be returning to the series. But Damon says he loves the character and would like to return to the Bourne universe.

"I'd really love to do another one because I love the character, but it's a real struggle to extend the franchise. Bourne's search to find his identity is done, so, where do you go next?"

This new film takes place in Russia and features McClane's son as a butt-kicking sidekick of sorts.

The film is set to be released on Valentine's Day of 2013. And for all the dudes out there thinking that it's the perfect date for Valentine's Day, please take the next few months to rethink that decision.

More Trailer Tidbits

Here are a few more trailers that have come out this past week.

First up is the film "Hitchcock."

The movie stars an almost unrecognizable Anthony Hopkins as the master director Alfred Hitchcock as he struggles to get his controversial film "Psycho" on the big screen.

A full-length trailer for "Zero Dark Thirty" dropped this week as well.

The film from "The Hurt Locker" director Kathryn Bigelow, follows the true story of the decade-long hunt and eventual death of terrorist Osama bin Laden.

Finally we have a new trailer for Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained."

The movie has Tarantino written all over it which means that some will love it and others are going to hate it.
