(KSL News) Charges against a former Highway Patrol Trooper who shot a suspect in Green River have been dropped.
Edward J. Bentley originally claimed he fired his rifle at bank robbery suspect John Louis Gourno because he saw him reach for a weapon.
However, later he changed his story saying the gun accidentally discharged.
Prosecutors decided to drop criminal charges against him after he was fired by the UHP and ended appeals to be reinstated.
