@mckadeofcourse: Game Time!! #UTES

It wasn't long before Utah made a statement in its Pac-12 matchup against No. 13 USC.

@Magic20099: Oh my goodness, that Utah defender just stole that ball out of Barkley's and and ran it in for a TD #Utes

@JJSportsBeat: Wow. Welcome back Utah defense with an assist from Khaled Holmes. The #Utes couldn't ask for a better start.

@theshums: I believe the only appropriate response to that is "HOLY FAK(AHAFUA)" #utes

Soon after that, a miscommunication between USC's center and quarterback Matt Barkley caused another turnover and set up a Jon Hays touchdown.

@ian_sharp_: 2 touchdowns in 2:45! #utes

The crowd was going crazy as Utah now led the Trojans, 14-0. The MUSS was doing the traditional "third-down jump" for the first three minutes of the game.

@kkoch435: I think someone's D is pissed for the flack they've gotten. #utes

@ThatSportsFan: This game is far from over Utes. Keep up the intensity! Let's go! #utes

The Utes, however, couldn't keep it up. Matt Barkley motored across the field for a touchdown. USC then had another scoring drive that ended in a field goal. The Utes were quick to respond with an 18-yard pass to DeVonte Christopher to put them up 21-10 at the time.

@Tim_Glenn: Fist pumping all by myself in some random bar in Denver. #utes

Not to be outdone, Barkley returned the favor with a touchdown of his own.

@JFurKSL: One-handed grab for a USC touchdown. Game is still close. 21-17 #Utes with 7:54 left in the half.

Barkley followed it up with another touchdown right before the half to put the Trojans up 24-21 at the break.

@Ryan_Leonard2: I like the way #Utah isn't taking #USC's elitest attitude. Hang in there #Utes

The second half was much like the presidential debate; one side was very aggressive while the other side decided not to do much about it. Utah had an amazing trick play that ended up in the end zone but was called back due to an ineligible receiver downfield.

@Max_Plumb: Sickest play of the year!!! Utah with the double reverse hail mary!! But it got called back. Unbelievable #utes

Utah ended the night with 13 penalties for 122 yards.

@Weswarr11: Great game so for, but penalties are killing the #Utes! #beatusc #USCvsUTES #uofu #utenation #halftime 24

After Utah held USC to no touchdowns in the third quarter, it seemed as though Utah had a legitimate chance to take the huge upset and come back to win the game in the fourth. USC missed two field goals in the third quarter while Utah only had one first down in that same quarter.

@Xapostrophe: #Utes gotta get in gear now D is holding them, let's get in the funzone utes! #UpsetAlert

@youtah: Okay #MUSS, shake the TV cameras with your NOISE again! YOUR TEAM NEEDS YOU! Make some NOISE! #GoUtes #Utes #UofU #Utah

But with all of the missed field goals and missed opportunities, the Utes could not put any more points on the board. Barkley capitalized and threw for an 83-yards touchdown pass to just about seal the deal.

@Feelinthis1: Utes getting another break and do nothing with it. :( #USCvsUTAH #Utes

@gopTODD: Game over. #Utes. #EightyThreeYards

The real nail in the coffin, however, was Hay's interception that was returned for a touchdown right after the long TD bomb.

@rojackKSL: Icing on the cake, pick six for USC, Nickell Robey. Hays rocked as he threw that pass. 38-21 #USCvsUTAH 9:30 4th QTR.

True freshman quarterback Travis Wilson came into the game and drove the Utes down the field to get a touchdown with 38 seconds left, but it was a little too late. Utah fell to USC, 38-28.

@SBlackett10: We need to find an offense fast. No downfield threat tonight. Heck of a first three minutes though. #Utes

The Utes take on UCLA next Saturday away from home. Maybe the weather will help Utah warm up on offense, perhaps?
