(KSL News) The Washington County sheriff is putting inmate cleaning crews back on the road.
The Department of Corrections pulled inmate crews off road duty in October, citing security concerns. But representatives with the Washington County Sheriff's Office tell the Deseret Morning News their contract with Corrections allows them to decide when crews return to the road.
Corrections officials say they would prefer inmates stay off the road, and they plan to meet with various sheriffs' departments to discuss policies.
