Mark Giauque reportingHigh School students in other parts of the state may envy their counterparts in Davis County. They get to sleep in a couple times a month, and the program may continue next year.

Most often the hallways at the high schools start to fill before eight-o-clock. But at schools in Davis County, every other Friday or so, classes start two hours later.

The design isn't to give students more sleep it's to give teachers more prep time and more time to talk with each other about the students' they're teaching. Educators say it's part of an attempt to create a better community feeling in schools.

After nearly a year into the experiment, 85-percent of teachers are reporting positive results. Students like it too. The District says the plan may continue next year.
