LOS ANGELES — Nearly two months after visiting victims of the Aurora theater shooting, Christian Bale is filling the superhero role again, this time for a 4-year-old cancer survivor and Batman fan.
Jayden Barber has fought — and beat — cancer twice in his short lifetime. A few weeks ago, his wish to meet Batman was fulfilled after members of the Lighting the Batsignal for Jayden Facebook group worked together to bring superheros to Boardman, Ohio.
Shortly after the Aug. 23 event, Jayden was declared to be in remission. The attention Jayden had received because of the bat signal campaign caught the eye of Christian Bale, who upon learning the good news flew Jayden and his family to Los Angeles.
"Finally can share!!! Christian sent us to LA and we had lunch at Disney club 33 on wed," Jayden's mother, Charlene Barber, wrote on Facebook. "He and his family were so awesome and down to earth!!!"
The family dined with The Dark Knight Rises star at Disneyland's famed Club 33.
"They talked movies and super Heros and he was genuinely happy to hear about everything Jayden wanted to tell him," Barber wrote on Facebook. "Christian, his wife and daughter are three of the most beautiful people we have ever met!"
"Christian made these arrangements for us personally and ensured we were treated like royalty," she continued. "I don't have even one negative thing to say about them. I can tell you that they were just as impressed w Jayden as Jayden was w them :)"
Jayden, who turns 5 on Sept. 17, was declared terminally ill on July 19 after a February bone marrow transplant failed, according to WYTV, but beat the odds when the cancer went into remission.
