CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- Another charge has been filed against a man who is being investigated in the deaths of two men found buried in a shallow grave in Iron County.

Martin C. Nelson, who has not been charged in the homicides, was charged this week with second-degree possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, Iron County authorities said.

Nelson was in the jail already on charges of third-degree failure to register as a sex offender and third-degree cultivating marijuana.

After he was arrested Nov. 16, authorities searched the ramshackle ranch where Nelson was living and found the pickup truck of Derek Davis, who had been missing since Oct. 24.

Cadaver dogs led investigators to a shallow grave where Davis and Chad Grijalva were buried. Both men had been shot in the head and torso.

Investigators are still trying to figure out the details in the shootings of the Washington County men and expect Nelson, who is being held on $40,580 bail, to remain in the jail.

"Our objective is to keep him incarcerated while we sift through this other evidence," Iron County Attorney Scott Garrett said.

Garrett said other charges won't likely be filed for a couple of weeks. His office is waiting for evidence to be processed and the official incident report to be finished.
