(KSL News) Police surrounded a duplex in Midvale overnight. They were after a man wanted on drug charges, but they encountered some complications.
Patrol Sgt. Ken Jarvis, Midvale Police Dept: "The suspect would not answer the door. They knew he was in there, they'd seen him in there. They'd been told he was in there. They eventually made entry and the suspect's pit bull attacked officers inside."

The pit bull ran outside and went after officers and police dogs.
All of a sudden the police were confronted with two problems. Inside the house, one group of officers was trying to arrest the suspect. They had to be extra careful because they believed he was armed.

And outside, another group of officers fought off the pit bull. Because the dog continued to attack, a policeman finally shot it. The animal died.
The suspect was arrested.
