Marc Giauque reportingA few hope you'll take advantage of new powder, but many of Utah's ski resorts are now closed. That has many resort operators hoping for warm temperatures so they can start their "second season."
At Park City Mountain resort, John Dudek, his wife and young daughter have the slopes with all of it's new snow practically all to themselves. They're not skiing, they're sledding right outside the Legacy Lodge.
John Dudek: "She's into sledding which since she's only 14 months..it's been a lot of fun for her."
Nearby, a snow-cat is actually removing snow from the bottom of a run.
Krista Perry, Park City Mountain Resort: "In Summer time we have an access road that helps people get to the top of where the Alpine slide is and so we need to make sure that road gets cleared out and it gets dried out as soon as possible."
Perry says they haven't even measured the latest snow depth.
Krista Perry, Park City Mountain Resort: "I don't know how much snow fell, no, overnight."
That's because they're now anxious for it all to melt.
Krista Perry, Park City Mountain Resort: "The sooner the better."
Crews buzz up and down the slopes, working on the transformation. The resort's web-site is already full of "Summer" photos.
With all the new snow, Perry says some want the lifts running.
Krista Perry, Park City Mountain Resort: "We certainly have had some emails, you know, people saying hey why aren't you guys staying open? To tell you the truth most people's mindsets, which is you know, kind of in April they start thinking about golf. They start thinking about mountain biking."
Something the resort, and the city itself hopes will make this more of a year-round rather than a seasonal attraction.
Still, Perry admits there are mixed feelings about watching a record Winter season end.
Krista Perry, Park City Mountain Resort: "You're always kind of, it's like ...ah! ok it's over now we can kind of relax. But again it's been such a great year and we don't want it to end."
