(KSL News) -- Employees of Delta Airlines took matters into their own hands to comfort children At Primary Children's Hosptial.
The project, known as "A Quilt for Every Bed", started in Salt Lake six years ago. Employees throughout the entire Delta system are now participating.
Employees work on the quilts during layovers and on breaks, whenever they have a spare minute.
Cindy Atkinson, Delta Airlines: "We have a 'sit time' lounge for flight attendants in Salt Lake, and we always have a quilt set up at all times, so that you can come through, if you're on a trip, you can donate time or supplies. And also, new this year, the gate agents started it as well. They have a lounge upstairs where they also set up quilts so that the gate agents can work on them in between flights."
More than 1,100 quilts and blankets were donated to Primary Children's Hospital today -- the most ever made by the Delta employees in one year.
