(KSL News) It started as a minor traffic violation and it ended with a fugitive in handcuffs.
A Salt Lake County Sheriff's deputy pulled Chad Turnbow over last night for a bad headlight on his car.
Turnbow would have simply received a warning, maybe a ticket, but he took off, so the deputy chased him.
Turnbow crashed into a parked car in a Millcreek neighborhood and took off on foot.
Deputies caught him and soon figured out why he was running. He's wanted by Florida authorities on drug charges. But deputies may never have known that had Turnbow not taken off.
Lt. Chris Bertram, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office: "The car wasn't stolen. It was registered to him. In fact, he had insurance on it. That's unusual for a fugitive to get insurance on his own car. So for the victim whose car was severely damaged, at least there should be some compensation for him."
Turnbow is in the Salt Lake County Jail this morning. Soon he'll be extradited to Florida.
