(KSL News) A Riverton neighborhood saw a lot of water this evening, but it had nothing to do with spring runoff.
A water line produced a large geyser. There's some new construction in the area, and some of the lines are exposed. The water was flowing into a trench, and when it filled up, a backhoe operator dug down to keep the water from overflowing and getting into nearby houses.
The geyser had a lot of pressure.
Capt. Neal Silcox, Unified Fire Authority: "It was picking up some huge rocks. It was throwing them 40-50 feet to the east, and then as they hit the edge of the trench, they'd bounce back this way also."
After about an hour, a man from the water department and his trusty crescent wrench shut the water off.
There was no damage to the road or to any houses.
