(KSL News) A Wyoming man is the first to get a new heart from Utah's newest hospital.

Though the surgery was performed at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, in a new operating room with the latest and best equipment, the emotion there was a mirror image of hundreds of other transplants.

The patient, Larry Hartwell, said, "There's a heart available... and the emotions that go through you right then are something you can't describe."

Had Larry Hartwell received that news two weeks ago, the transplant would have taken place at LDS Hospital.
