MORGAN — A 12-acre fire in Morgan County appartently started by target shooters was declared contained Sunday.
"The fire was a fast-moving fire in some really tough terrain," Morgan County Fire Warden Boyd Carrigan said. "We have had a lot of fires started by target practice shooting. I've been doing this 18 years, and I've never seen so many."
The fire, which burned for less than a day near the Mormon Flat Historical Marker along the road that connects Morgan County to the Jeremy Ranch area of Summit County, was fought by some 30 local, state and federal authorities with the aide of a helicopter, Carrigan said.
The target shooters have acknowledged responsiblity for the blaze, he said.
