SNOWBIRD — A vehicle explosion at Snowbird has left four people injured.
According to Unified Fire Authority Capt. Lee Ascarte, a motor home parked at Snowbird Ski Resort caught fire around 12 p.m. Crews, who were already at Snowbird, heard the explosion come from the back of the motor home and saw one man lying on the ground near the RV.
Crews responded immediately, and found three people inside the burning motor home, in addition to the man outside.
The man was flown to University Hospital by AirMed to be treated for second- and third-degree burns on his legs — about 20 percent of his body.
The three others were treated on-scene but refused further medical care.
According to Ascarte, the man, who owned the RV, said before he went to the hospital that the vehicle had been leaking something and he was checking on it at the time of the explosion.
The RV is a total loss. The victims have not been identified, and it was not immediately known whether they were from Utah or out-of-town.
