(KSL News) The Salt Lake City Fire Department is handing out free batteries for smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
The batteries will be handed out at fire stations on Sunday. On-duty firefighters also will be available to check detectors to make sure they are working properly.
The Energizer battery company is helping out with the effort as well.
