SALT LAKE CITY — Some of my favorite memories of my childhood are playing catch or playing sports with my dad. That's why I love moments like these. The first took place Friday when Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood made his last MLB appearance before retiring. His last pitch was a strikeout. As he walked off the field for the last time, the first person to meet him was his son Justin. Wood sharing a hug with his son is one of the more touching sports moments in recent memory.
This next moment is a father/son dream. We all went to the ballpark as children hoping to snag a foul ball in the stands. This father and son combine to make one of the greatest foul ball snags of all-time — a moment I'm sure they will talk about forever.
Uncle Drew
Yes, I know it was all staged, so you don't have to email me, but I really enjoyed Kyrie Irving in this Pepsi Max ad. Irving shows he has more talent than just basketball as he dresses up and plays a character named "Uncle Drew." Irving goes to the park in his disguise and shows the "young bloods" how to ball. He gets buckets!
Stephen A. Smith
There are a lot of talking heads to choose from these days. One of the all-time greats is Stephen A. Smith. To be honest, I enjoy Stephen A. I don't always agree with him, but he always has a strong opinion and delivers his thoughts with passion and conviction. Smith recently took a strong and passionate stance on comments Al Jefferson made during the Jazz playoff series against the Spurs.
His style is unique, which makes him an easy target for, say, a guy who does impressions on Saturday Night Live. SNL cast member Jay Pharoah did this impression of Smith during Weekend Update.
