PROVO, Utah (AP) -- A Pleasant Grove woman is charged with manslaughter in the death of her daughter, who overdosed on painkillers.

Prosecutors say 44-year-old Traci Sorenson didn't call for medical help after finding Kaydie Sorenson unconscious and next to an empty bottle of painkillers May 4.

Pleasant Grove Police say Traci Sorenson decided not to call for help because she thought her daughter was wanted on an arrest warrant and did not want her to get in trouble. Instead, she said she moved Kaydie to the floor near her bed so she could check on her throughout the night.

Kaydie's sister called 911 the next morning, but the 26-year-old was dead by the time help got there.

Sorenson does not yet have a defense attorney. She was charged last week.

Police medical concerns should override legal worries if someone's life is in danger.
