SALT LAKE CITY -- Citizens all across the state are capturing the news and submitting their contributions to KSL via iWitness, an app designed for the user to share their photos and persepctives.

Here's a sampling of recent submissions.

Layton house fire

Two people were displaced when their Layton home caught fire on Friday, April 27.

In the photos provided by Melissa Schmucker, you can see the attic engulfed in flames.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the flames, but the fire and smoke damage was too severe for the two residents to return home.

Semi rollover

That same day, a commuter was traveling along I-15 through Lehi when he came across a semi, which had rolled.

The accident occurred just before 8 a.m. and blocked three lanes of traffic causing two miles of backup.

Another semi caught fire the same day along I-80 when several of its tires exploded near Tooele. Users submitted pictures and video.

Powerful Wind Storm

As last week's storm blew in, people's power went out, specifically from Tremonton to Brigham City.

Heather Fischer snapped a photo of her neighbors' power pole in Corinne, which collapsed, "almost taking ours with it."

No one was hurt and trees kept it from falling on the house.

The fast moving storm and high winds displaced a number of things, including a crumpled trampoline, found in Woods Cross by Jennifer Lansdowne.

April showers bring rainbows

Those same showers created quite the sight, captured by Jared Worthing.

Obvious rainbows left behind by the dark rain clouds.

Flying saucers?

No, just clouds that look like flying saucers.

Ricardo Lopez, who took the pictures, put it best:

"These are weird looking clouds my son spoted wile taking a drive. The one on the right looks like a UFO."

Good eye, son.

These are actually Lenticular or Standing Lenticular clouds.

Alien, ghost, vampire?

Maybe those UFO's dropped off an extraterrestrial.

I doubt, it but "Cesar" submitted a surveillance photo of "an all-white 'person' with a shadow."

I doubt it's an alien. Vampire maybe, but not an alien.

Because it's cool

And because Blackhawk Helicopters are awesome and for some reason are intriguing to watch as they take off, here is a little video of such provided by Henry J. Becker IV.

Enjoy.
