TOOELE — A semi trailer caught fire Friday afternoon on I -80 just outside of Tooele.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the trailer suffered multiple tire explosions while on the highway just before 4:00 pm. The trailer caught fire near mile marker 27.
The driver was able to detach the trailer and move it off of the road.
The trailer was hauling pallets, which also caught fire during the incident. Westbound traffic was shut down for approximately 30 minutes, but one lane is now open for traffic.
