SALT LAKE CITY — A young woman from Bonneville High School who was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis wins this week's High 5.
Hailey Daniels has worked to raise awareness of the illness among her peers.
Mari Pat Thomas of the Arthritis Foundation said, "We really want people to understand that arthritis is not just a disease that older people get. It's an illness that youth get. It's an illness that children get."
Friends and family say Hailey doesn't just want to survive with arthritis, she wants to help and inspire others.
Her mother, Tiffany Daniels, explained, "She has just said, ‘You know what, Mom? It's alright. There are so many kids that deal with so much more.'"

Hailey said, "When you have a struggle … you need to take it and just turn it into a positive experience."
The Arthritis Foundation asked Hailey so serve as the 2012 Youth Honoree for the Arthritis Walk next month. "We're just trying to raise money and support the cause," Hailey said.
