SALT LAKE CITY — A 7-year-old boy with big dreams and big battles to fight saw his biggest dream come true on Saturday.

Kye, an Arlington, Texas boy who is battling leukemia, wanted to star in a Batman movie. The Arlington Police Department wanted to do him one better, though, so they came up with a plan: to make Kye Batman for a day, complete with a costume and "real" crimes to fight.

Kye was able to catch the Joker red-handed during a bank robbery, according to Arlington police. He stopped a man outside the Arlington police station who was trying to steal a purse, and stopped a "car bomb" that the Riddler had placed near city hall.

The adventure began at 10 a.m. and ended with a ceremony at city hall, where James Hawthorne, assistant police chief, gave Kye a key to the city.

At the ceremony, Kye was unmasked, but won't stop fighting the bad guys.

After all he has been through, the day was "not really" a lot of hard work, he said. And the best part of the day was when he got to "chase the villains."

"Kye's special day included a bank, fake money, motor officers, a bogus ‘bomb' and couple of cackling villains whose criminal acts were foiled by the good guys," the department added in a release.

His wish was fulfilled by non-profit a Wish with Wings, who joined forces with the police and fire departments to make the day as realistic as possible.

The little superhero enjoyed the day, according to the Star-Telegram.

"I just want to say, that was fun," he said.
