SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Foundation announced the results of their 2012 Utah Priorities Survey Tuesday at the University of Utah's Hinckley Institute of Politics.
The survey is conducted by Dan Jones and Associates and looks and what issues are key for the voters and delegates of the state.
- Jobs and economy
- Kindergarten through 12th-grade education
- Energy issues
- Health care
- Taxes and state government spending
- Higher education
- Environmental issues
- Partisan politics
- Poverty
- Immigration
The findings show that better education, gun rights, improving the economy and protecting states' rights to be among the top issues for Utah voters.
The survey also looks at who is participating in both parties' caucus systems.
"We still didn't improve the representation of women (at the caucuses)," said Kirk Jowers, executive director of the Hinckley Institute. "They stayed marred at the exact same number as they did in 2010, for both Republicans and Democrats."
The survey also showed Gov. Gary Herbert and Sen. Orrin Hatch to be favorites in their races.
