DRAPER, Utah (AP) -- A Utah State Prison inmate who was shot after an escape has been released from the hospital and is incarcerated again.

Danny Gallegos was returned Monday to the state prison in Draper.

Department of Corrections spokesman Jack Ford says Gallegos is in the infirmary and continuing to recover from a gunshot wound suffered when he was taken into custody.

The 49-year-old Gallegos and 27-year-old Juan Diaz-Arevalo escaped from the Daggett County Jail Sept. 23. The convicted killers were being held there due to prison crowding problems.

The pair spent six days living in the wild before breaking into a trailer home and stealing the resident's weapons and car.

They were caught near Rock Springs, Wyo.

Both have been indicted on federal gun charges. To date, no state charges have been filed.
