SALT LAKE CITY — Despite a 14-cent hike since last month, Utah’s state average gas price is still the second lowest in the United States.
According to the latest report from AAA, every metro area in the state saw a double-digit increase at the pump over the past month. Of the Utah metro areas tracked by AAA, Moab had the highest month-to-month price increase at 25 cents.
Utah’s current average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.71, which is 14 cents higher than a year ago. Of the Utah cities surveyed, Moab also had the highest average price at $3.89 per gallon, while Ogden had the lowest at $3.66 per gallon.
The national average price climbed 11 cents to $3.92 per gallon, up 15 cents over the national price at the same time last year.
Wailuku, Hawaii, had the highest average price in the nation at $4.85 per gallon, while the highest price reported in the lower 48 states was in Eureka, Calif., at $4.50 per gallon.
Among all 50 states, Hawaii had the highest average price at $4.61. Hawaii, Alaska, California, the District of Columbia, Connecticut, New York, Illinois, Washington, Oregon and Maryland all reported average prices above $4 per gallon.
