SALT LAKE CITY — A 16-year-old boy died Friday from injuries he sustained after being hit by a car while skateboarding.
Mickey Daniel Sorensen was riding a skateboard about 9:30 p.m. Thursday near 2200 East and Roosevelt Avenue (1460 South). He had gone through a parking lot and was hit as he attempted to cross the road, said Salt Lake police detective Dennis McGowan. Sorensen was wearing dark clothing, McGowan said.
Sorensen was transferred to a local hospital in critical condition and died Friday.
McGowan said details surrounding the accident, including who had the right of way, were still under investigation Friday.
