ST. GEORGE — A car crashed into a hair salon in St. George early Friday morning.

A 19-year-old St. George resident was northbound on Bluff street around 1:20 a.m. when he veered off the road, drove across a parking lot and smashed into a building at 767 N. Bluff Street, according to the St. George Police Department's Facebook page.

Damage to the building is extensive, including water damage from broken water pipes, and ruined interior and exterior walls. Several foot massage stations and nail stations were destroyed.

The driver told police he fell asleep while driving. But investigators say he was driving under the influence of prescription medication and cited him for DUI.

He was taken to a local hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.
