(KSL News) Utah businesses are getting smart when it comes to selling cigarettes to kids.
According to a report by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services only 8.5 percent of Utah retailers were caught selling tobacco to minors last year; that is down more than 15 percent from a decade ago.
The state with the lowest percentage of retailers caught sell to minors was Arkansas with 2.2 percent; Kansas had the highest with 19.2 percent.
A spokesman for the Utah State Health Department said the decline is likely due to random inspections and employee training programs.
