PARK CITY — More than 700 Park City students are learning about the magic of reading as a reward for their progress.
They went on a field trip to the Summit County library and got to watch a reading-themed magic show.
Students from Trailside Elementary take part in KSL's Read Today program and read with volunteers in the community. Their test scores have improved so much, we wanted to provide even more reading incentive.
As part of their trip, students got a library card.
"The library is part of the magic of reading," said Kirsten Nilsson of the Summit County Library. "Giving them a library card lets them check out their own books and empowers them."
Each week, Read Today takes rewards to deserving schools. Big O Tires helps fund the rewards because it wants to help children in local communities.
After the magic and library tour, students got to eat treats provided by the McDonald's across the street. So each student returned from this field trip full, fired up about reading, and able to check out as many books as the library allows.
