COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS -- A about $1000 of heroin was seized when police busted an operation in Cottonwood Heights, all thanks to a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.
At about midnight, a man was arrested for possession of a small amount of drugs. As a result of the stop, police were led to the parking lot of an extended stay motel. An undercover drug operation was quickly arranged, and netted about 100 bags of heroin and a small amount of cash.
In addition to the man at the traffic stop, police arrested a Mexican national that they described as a middle man in a mid-sized drug operation. The man said he had been in Utah for only a short while.
"On the street level, this is a significant bust for us because it'll stop the dealing," said Det. Steve Olsonwith CHPD. "We're kind of working our way up this as best we can and taking these people down one at a time."
The names of the men have not yet been released, but they said they hope that the arrests send a message to dealers in the area.
