OREM -- Candidate for Governor Morgan Philpot and two of his campaign supporters were traveling along Highway 40 when the truck they were driving plunged off an embankment.
They say that they hit a spot of ice, which caused them to lose control of the vehicle. It rolled at least once and came to a stop nearly 100 feet down the embankment. Philpot says the next thing he remembers is hearing a stranger yelling to them.
"Once we got out of the car, a gentleman -- I don't know who he is, but whoever you are thank you very much -- came out, threw a rope over the side and pulled us up," Philpot said.
That man left without giving a name, and Philpot and both of his supporters walked away with only minor injuries.
I think it's a miracle. Just glad to be able to go home to my family last night," Philpot said.
