SALT LAKE CITY -- KSL readers picked their favorite bands in the Utah's Best Garage Band contest, and the three bands are performing Friday night for the judges.
The three bands each received over 7,000 votes, and more than 162 bands entered the competition to play live in KSL studios after the Super Bowl and premiere of "The Voice." Bands Goodnight Annabelle, J. Wride, and Argyle will play for judges Jon Carter and Gary Michaels from The Arrow- Classic Rock 103, and KSL TV Social Media Director Natalie Wardel, who will pick the winner.
Goodnight Annabelle is a "radio-ready" pop punk/alternative rock band featuring Yellowcard-like harmonies and a violin in their ensemble. The band is based in Provo, and the five have been together since 2009.
J. Wride, also based in Provo, is releasing their new album "Indigo" this month. They define themselves as a mix of rock, jazz and hip-hop, and have recorded a song with hip- hop artist MIMS.
The largest group of the finalists, seven-member band Argyle brings to the table a violin, harmonica and ukulele. The band hails from Salt Lake City, and released their album in November.
